Reveiwed over test

Today in class we reviewed over the religion test. I did good, I got a 92 but the ones I got wrong I know I could have got them right if I read a little slower. Many kids got hard questions right, but didn't get the gimmies. He had some easy questions that kids just didn't take advantage of. Mr. Schick explained how when he was watching the news, they were talking about Italy and their total fertility rate. For the rest of the class we just talked about food, Texas and Mr. Schick's grandpa and father. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Quiz day

Today we took a quiz about the 5 major religions. I think I did good on this quiz. I had to rethink a lot of questions but once I was done I re looked over my notes and got them correct. I got stuck on about 2 questions, those questions were on Islam and Hinduism. I think I got them correct, but those were the two religions I wasn't the most familiar with. Although I did study them at home so I think I got them correct. For the rest of the class we went over our old tests and had civil conversations.

Last 3 major religions

Today in class we finished up learning about the remainder of the last 3 major religions. Hinduism, Judaism, and Buddhism. These religions are vastly different, but all mean the same to the people who have beliefs in them. Judaism believes in Jesus Christ, but have not yet received there savoir or messiah. Hinduism believes there is not one leader or founder for their religion. It is just a series of intellectual or philosophical points of view. Buddhism believes in the 4 noble truths and the Eight fold paths. Basically set boundaries on how to live the perfect life in their eyes. Tomorrow is our quiz on the religions and I think I will do good. I am going to study and drill these religions in my brain. Today's class got pretty deep and heart felt. All in all I think everybody got a deep message about religion.

2 major religions

Today in class we learned about to 2 out of the 5 major religions. Those 2 where Christianity and Islam. Christianity has about 2.2 billion adherents. There geographic locations are in Europe, Americas, Southern Africa and there denominations are Catholic church, Eastern orthodox church and protestant. The founder of Christianity is Jesus Christ, they read from the bible and the Pope is the clergy for Christianity. They also believe Jesus Christ is human and divine. Then we learned about Islam. Islam has about 1.5 adherents and they are called Muslims. There geographic location is Indonesia, Middle east, and North Africa. Denominations are Sunnis(75%-90%) and Shiites(10%-20%). The founder is Muhammad(570-632) and their holy book is the Qur'an. Their beliefs is that they are monotheistic, Abrahamic and that they have five pillars(testimony, prayer, alms-giving, fasting, pilgrimage). Finally, Muslims see their purpose in life as serving and submitting to Allah(god).

Test day

Today in class we took a test on population, migration, and the population pyramid. On a personal note, I think I did just fine. There was some questions that made me think a little bit, but I stuck to my gut and got the job done. This test was a well wrote out test. I thought all the questions were fair and could be answered with the knowledge we learned in class. If you payed attention and took the right notes, you should be good. I think Mr.Schick should keep his test this way. Not to hard, not to easy, straight to the point and goes over everything in class. For the rest of class we wrote our blogs and did pretty much anything else we had to get done.

Reviewed the population pyramid

Today in class we reviewed the population pyramid for the test. We started off class talking about how during a video Mr.Schick showed to his class, during the peloponesian war, a man chopped off a head and used it to club people in the head. Then, we re watched the population pyramid video to get a better understanding of what we are learning. As a class we got a better understanding of how the population pyramid works. For the rest of class we worked on our blog and watched another episode of jeopardy. The questions are getting harder and harder as we watch further into the tournament.

Reviewed for the test

Today in class we reviewed for the test. We went over the first notes we took in the beginning of the unit. For example, we went over the key questions that will be on population and settlement. Such as, 90% of the population growth takes place in the developing countries of Africa, South East Asia, and Latin America. Life expectancy, Total fertility rate of 2.1, Push forces and pull forces, and Net Migration rate. Tomorrow we are going over the population pyramid. I am pretty confident about this test because I got a great grade on the population settlement test, and understand the population pyramid. Mr.Schick scared the living day lights out of Tom because he screamed "STOP IT" to Logan. According to him it was cici's fault. For the rest of class we watched a jeopardy episode and tried to answer the questions.

How well we think we did on the presentation

Today in class we assessed our selves and our group mates on how well they did. I would give myself a 96%. When it comes to the group I will give them as followed Meg-93% Sheno-87% Matt-100% Drew-100% I am pretty confident I will get a grade somewhere around 96, maybe even higher. For the rest of the class we finished up homework and made fun of Jay. Jay has absolutely no confidence in himself because he didn't even attempt to give himself a good grade:)

Presentations

Today in class we presented our final product of the problems our picked country faced. I think my group did ok. Personally, I think I did a good job. I was clear during my speech and make enough eye contact. Also, I presented good information towards the class and had a valid answer when Mr.Schick asked me a question about the solution. For the rest of the class, we listened to the rest of the presentations. They were just fine, some I would have cleaned up a little but for the most part it was a good day. Finally, it annoyed me a little bit when Mr.Schick asked a question to a group about a solution or something else, and I knew the answer but the group presenting didn't. I wanted to jump in so bad.

PowerPoint with group

Today in class we did group work on a certain country. My group created a PowerPoint on Japan and their big problems as a country. The slide that I am controlling is on public debt. Japan really struggles when it comes to this factor. Much of their public debt comes the amount of tax money that goes out to aiding their elders. We all want to help our elders, but because Japan doesn't like to have babies, the only thing they need to take care of is the elders. They cost a lot of money when it comes to health care, living homes, hospital bills, etc. Some other problems Japan has are total fertility rate, and population growth rate. I believe my group will do good because we have found good information and have taken this seriously.

Answered possible pop quiz questions

Today in class we answered possible pop quiz questions. For the majority of the questions, Mr.Schick gave us four countries and asked us a question about the rates. Also, he told us about the sub saran countries in Africa and the countries on the Mediterranean. I am pretty confident because I am pretty comfortable and used to the answers off of the CIA.gov. Mr.Schick also explained the questions he asked will be on the mid term exams. Meg pretty much failed the questions but it is ok. Finally, the mid term exams will be over 100 questions with everything we have learned starting with Garcia and going all the way up the time line.

Reveiwed yesterdays work

Today in class we are doing absolutely nothing except reviewing for what we did in class yesterday. Yesterday we used information from the CIA world fact book to help us better understand what we have been learning on population, migration, and Hans rosling's chart. For the most part, Han's video really helped me complete my blog when it came to the population pyramid statistics. If you pay attention to the growth of the countries, you can tell what year they really started to make a jump. Also, The CIA world fact book connects to Han's video because they both give the same stats. Such as GDP per capita and life expectancy of countries. The blog took me the entire class period including some extra time at home, but I finished it and learned quiet a lot from. The information is in front of us, we just need to take advantage.

Five pieces of evidence for population

Migration questions 1. The Net Migration rate in Mexico is 1.8. Over half their country is immigrating to other countries such as the United States, Canada, etc. This can effect the population in other countries because the more people that come in, the more people the government counts towards society facts. 2. United States population is 329,256,465. Our population would be slowly declining if it weren't for immigration. So many people from South America migrate into this country helping it rise at a slow pace. 3. China's population is 1,384,688,986. The population in China is a massive boom compared to other country's. The population in China is to big for the amount of money they pay men who work in factories. There economy is pretty low. 4. The Net migration rate in Canada is 5.7. Technically, there are more immigrants going into Canada then America. This is only true because of the population difference. We are ahead by like 300 million. 5. The Net immigrati
